RecoveryWorks understands that substance addiction often has a devastating impact on family and other close relationships. We have a comprehensive Friends and Family Group to assist loved ones in learning to understand addiction and how to focus their upset and energy on the addiction, rather than the person with the problem.
Friends and family have a group specifically for themselves where they can experience a safe and supportive opportunity to begin their process of healing.
The program includes an education group that involves the alcoholic/addict along with family/friends. The Friends and Family Group provides an opportunity to learn about and practice healthy, open and honest communication, wherein all can have the experience of feeling heard and understood.
Research has shown that when family/friends attend and participate in the program the alcoholic/addict has a highly improved probability of successful recovery.
The Friends and Family Group is a key component in any good treatment and relapse prevention plan. The RecoveryWorks Friends and Family Group meets at 6:00 PM Wednesdays.
The Friends and Family Group is directed by Bonnie Hanika, a counselor with over 20 years of experience specializing in reuniting families.
